It’s time for a new incarnation of our Yeager game world to start!
With it, we’re introducing a new system for aircraft financing, that shall finally make credit financing a viable option for airlines and increase the number of owned aircraft. This is especially relevant, as we’re planning to introduce the “aircraft conversion tool”, which will require you to own an aircraft if you’d like to upgrade or convert it to a freighter.
The new system is based on annuities, so you’ll be paying one particular amount for your aircraft each week and don’t have to worry about additional interest costs anymore. After 260 weeks, the aircraft is yours, but you can still pay back parts of the loan earlier, if you like. Be aware that, while credit financing might look very attractive now, it also comes with downsides and may lead into bankruptcy, because it’s difficult to get rid of an aircraft again and - unlike leasing contracts - a loan contract doesn’t simply end when you can’t pay your annuity. So employ this new tool with care!
For now, we’re applying these changes to Yeager III only and may still change the values with future updates. But you should be seeing the new credit financing system on all game worlds next year.
Based on the experiences from Quimby IX, we’ve made further improvements to the new relative demand data. This data set will be in use on Yeager III from the beginning and be updated to Quimby IX as well. As with the financing changes, all other game worlds will receive the updated data next year.
Another new project is the “AirlineSim Handbook” that is being introduced to replace our old wiki. We will gradually add articles to it to provide reliable and up-to-date information about the game, as well as a new tutorial. You will be able to access it here: https://handbook.airlinesim.aero We welcome your contributions to the handbook, especially to provide an additional section with game-play advice in the future.
