Today, we are launching a new game world: Wright. It will be our first “historic” game world that lets you play through a time span of aviation history with accelerated time progression.
Get started right here: https://wright.airlinesim.aero
How does this game world work?
The game world will feature the years 1990 to 2002 and all aircraft types will gradually become available, based on a time progression where four weeks of real time equal one year of time progression in-game.
This does not affect the standard routine of AirlineSim and the game still runs in real time. But the data time affects both the availability and ageing of aircraft in-game, so your fleet decisions are becoming much more relevant. Older aircraft will increase your maintenance costs more quickly and could allow your competitors with a younger fleet to surpass you. And aircraft manufacturers might also not be offering you favorite aircraft type forever… So when to invest in a fleet change? Well, that’s up to you!
What do I need to know?
We’ve set up a separate page on the new AirlineSim Handbook with all necessary information. It also contains a list of all aircraft types that will be available over time.
You can use the game status page to always see the current data time. Aircraft availability is based on years only. Fuel prices are based on real data and are updated frequently (every week in data time).
Anything else?
Other parts of the game work just the way you are used to: Airports, demand and traffic rights are all based on today’s data as used on our existing game worlds - so you don’t need to worry about different demand, closing airports or anything like that. As of now, we’re focusing only on the aircraft aspect of this “historic game world project”, because researching all the relevant data for decades ago would not be feasible.
