If you are following our weekly development log, you might have read that simulogics, the company behind AirlineSim, will be moving to a new location soon. While - or rather: because - this is mostly a matter of paperwork, we wanted to use this opportunity to switch out a payment provider that we've become increasingly unhappy with recently. This way, all the fun bureaucracy of anti-money laundering documentation is only required once, especially because all the new and adjusted integrations are done through the same payment processor we're already employing for credit card payments.
This is what this means in practice:
New payment method: SEPA Direct Debit
We now offer SEPA Direct Debit as a payment option. So if you are in the EU or any other country that participates in SEPA, you should be able to use direct debit going forward.
Replaced payment method: Online Bank Transfer becomes Klarna
Previously, we were able to offer Online Bank Transfers that worked by redirecting you to your bank to immediately authorize a payment. Unfortunately, there isn't a good one-to-one replacement for this method at this time. As such, we opted to integrate Klarna, who have bought Sofort a while ago. As Sofort was one of the leading providers of Online Bank Transfers in Europe, Klarna still offers this method of payment. We are aware that this option isn't as straight forward as what we had before, given that you need to have or a create a Klarna account to use it. But we are keeping an eye on alternatives that might become available over time or that are already available in particular countries.
Mostly the same: Bank Transfers
We also switched over classic bank transfers aka prepayment. This process should look and feel pretty much the same as before, just using a different provider under the hood.
In all cases: If you run into any issues, please get in touch and we'll try to sort things out. There are bound to be some teething issues with a migration like this.
Thank you very much for your understanding!
